CHRISTMAS, 1987

Some Christmases become milestones.

The ornaments are packed away, the wrapping paper disappears, and the tree comes down… but one little decoration survives because no one can bear to throw it out.

This tiny holiday spray was carefully labeled Christmas 1987 before it was tucked into a box in the attic.

No one remembers exactly why that year mattered so much.
Perhaps it marked a first Christmas in a new home.
Perhaps it celebrated a long-awaited child.
Or perhaps someone simply looked at it years later and thought,
"This one deserves to be remembered."

When Leona found it, she left the tiny handwritten tag exactly where Lavinia had placed it.

Some stories don't need to be explained.
Sometimes a date is enough.
